Participatory planning for the PBPA Development of a Management Plan for 2012-2017
Participants in the Participatory Workshop in Breakout group discussing keys areas that need to be addressed in the Management Plan.
“Participatory Planning for the Portland Bight Protected Area” is another project being implemented by the Caribbean Coastal Area Management Foundation (C-CAM) which has been funded by the Forest Conservation Fund. An inception workshop was held in January 2011, and since then C-CAM has been compiling information and preparing for the planning process.
The first two technical workshops for this project were held in September 2011 at the Forestry Department, 173 Constant Spring Road, Kingston 8, to initiate the technical and scientific work necessary for the preparation of the management plan by preparing a draft goal for the Portland Bight Protected Area and identifying the most important conservation targets and assessing the critical threats to their survival.
The workshop was well attended and participants now look forward to working groups designed to target individual areas of the management plan.
